Pediatric Requirements: Citrated whole blood - 4.5 mL (3-4 tubes required). One 2.7 mL lavender top tube EDTA
Volume: Citrate tube must be full- MUST be scheduled with Coagulation lab
Minimum Volume: Citrate tube must be full- MUST be scheduled with Coagulation lab
Temperature: Room Temperature
Stability: Room temperature: 3 hours
Reasons for Rejection: Patient has taken over-the-counter medication that affects platelet function
Days Performed: Monday - Friday, by appointment only
Times Performed: Morning only
TAT: 2-10 days for interpretive report
Special Instructions: Must be scheduled with the lab, 615-875-5633 or 615-343-9164. Patient should not take over the counter medications for 10 days prior to testing. Patient must present to Vanderbilt between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. on the day of testing. Patient should be fasting.
