Tube Type: Lavender top (EDTA) - 4.0 mL; Please submit a separate EDTA tube if ordering BNP along with other tests that are collected in a Lavender top (EDTA) tube.

Pediatric Requirements: 1 lavender top microtainer
Volume: 1 mL plasma
Minimum Volume: 1 lavender top
Temperature: Room temperature for up to 4 hours; 2-8C for up to 24 hours
Stability: Room temperature: 4 hrs; Refrigerated: 24hrs ; Frozen: 3 months
Reasons for Rejection: Severely hemolyzed specimen, improper storage, improper specimen
Days Performed: Daily
Times Performed: Continuous
TAT: Stat: 1 hour; Routine: 2 hours after receiving in lab
Special Instructions: Transport at room temp or chilled.If testing will not be performed within 4 hours of collection, it is best to separate plasma and freeze. Please submit a separate EDTA tube if ordering a BNP along with other tests that are collected in a Lavender top (EDTA) tube.
